Synopsis

-

Inspired by Adam Savage and having a practical need to keep tools on my person to increase efficiency as a maker I decided to put my skills to the test and design my own apron from scratch.

Function & Style

-

Helping my craft

The apron was carefully crafted with its role in my workshop in mind. Every pocket, slot, and strap was tailored to accommodate specific tools and purposes, providing dedicated spaces for pens, craft knives, screwdrivers, and other essential hand tools. While functionality was a priority, I also wanted the apron to feel distinctly handmade, so I incorporated a few ornate details to give it a unique, personal touch.

Process

Leathersmith

Drawing on the skills I had developed through smaller leather projects, I approached this task by hand. I started by sketching a pattern and transferring it onto the leather. Then, I carefully cut out the pieces, punched the holes using a hammer and chisel, and finally sewed everything together.
