Creating something that looked like it had a purpose

The idea of this job was to make something that looked like it could be apart of the insides of a coffee machine, but didn't have to at all mimic the exact internal mechanisms of one. This meant the layout of each component was up to us, and through discussion and trial and error we worked out a layout that was visually interesting for the movement of the camera.

Kitbashing

To keep within the scope of an actual coffee machine, we took apart and gutted a real coffee machine, to provide us with the equipment we needed to create something visually interesting. There was a directionally and a focus point we had to consider as we knew what kind of camera shot they would be going for. Using, motors, circuit boards, cables and tubes we created an open set with layers for visual depth that could be lit to bounce the light around the space.
